Omega Creates Planet Ocean Co-Axial Chronometer and Chronograph in Jewelry Variations

For 2009, Omega has created its Planet Ocean Chronograph and Planet Ocean Chronometer watches in exclusive jewelry versions. The precious timepieces are anticipated to be unveiled at Baselworld 2009.

It is remarkable that the new Planet Ocean ‘Jewellery’ Co-Axial chronograph is the choice of Nicole Kidman, one of the most stylish and beautiful ladies in the world and an ambassadress for Omega watches. The Hollywood actress was wearing the timepiece for her recent shoot.
The Omega Planet Ocean ‘Jewelry’ Co-Axial Chronograph and Chronometer watches, having joined the brand’s iconic Seamaster family, represent highly functional diver’s watches, being based on Omega’s outstanding experience in the production of diver’s watches since the 1940s. The timepieces boast the following technical characteristics:
  • 600-meter water-resistance,

  • a unidirectional rotating bezel,

  • a helium-release valve for reduced pressure.

The technically advanced Omega watches, destined for both men and women, are luxuriantly diamond-set to look sophisticated when worn at most glamorous evening events.

The same as the initial Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean watches introduced in 2004, the new models feature large-sized cases, measuring 45.5 mm or 42 mm in diameter. As nowadays large-sized watches are equally popular among men and women, and more and more men are inspired by wearing a diamond watch, the new models are sure to greatly appeal to both men and women.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean ‘Jewellery’ watches accommodate an automatic movement with Omega’s unique Co-Axial escapement and offer precision timekeeping guaranteed by COSC-chronometer certification.

Both versions demonstrate a brushed stainless steel case and a face protected by a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating on both sides. The case construction incorporates a screw-in case-back featuring the Seahorse medallion.
The lacquered black dial of the new Omega watches is completed with applied Arabic numerals, the Omega name and logo and white Super-LumiNova indexes and hands.
The timepieces are secured to the wrist with an integrated black alligator strap equipped with a polished stainless steel fold-over clasp.

The sporty case of the Omega Planet Ocean ‘Jewellery’ Co-Axial Chronograph watch measures 45.5 mm in diameter and is topped by a bezel adorned by 45 sizeable diamonds with a total weight of 2.65 carats. The dial displays a small seconds counter at 9 o’clock, a 30-minute recorder at 3 o’clock and a 12-hour recorder at 6 o’clock. You will notice a small date window at 4:30.

The sleek, elegant case of the Omega Planet Ocean Chronometer watch measures in 45.5 mm or 42 mm in diameter. The 45 diamonds adorning the smaller model are slightly smaller, with a total weight of 1.73 carats. At 12 o’clock, the Omega watches show off a black triangular dive minute marker with a white Super-LumiNova dot in the center.
